DreamCloud Mattress Review Purple Mattress Number 4
I am super excited about today’s review since I’ll be having a look at a couple of of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it’s supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and ascertain what kind of sleeper could benefit from it most.
Read on below for my entire review of this DreamCloud mattress. Purple Mattress Number 4
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: under the cover, you will locate three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress.
The center of these three layers is especially significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which can be made up of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs provide that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for constant air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the underside of the mattress, with the most important use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid base for the entire.
After shooting a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel.
My hands sunk to the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to socialize with the pocketed coils under and experienced a nicelift from the springs.
At this stage I’d love to remember that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise.
As opposed to giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion also.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed.
As you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from that bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Purple Mattress Number 4
Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud into you, I wished to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it.
To do this, I put a pressure map along with the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach . You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: After on my spine, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking to the mattress at all.
The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to sense pressure forming at my shoulders and hips.
However, I nevertheless felt invited and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress , which is key for stomach sleepers.
I have to mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Purple Mattress Number 4
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around in night.
This second test is intended to demonstrate that the intensity of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into another .
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d nevertheless consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a consequence of its individually wrapped coils.
This usually means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress spouse’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, many individuals want to know whether they will sense like they are sinking”into ” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will allure to a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Purple Mattress Number 4
If you’re likely to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the border support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying on my spine, I sensed as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below.
This system, along with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
