DreamCloud Mattress Review Purple Mattress Japan
I am super excited about now’s review since I’ll be having a look at one of this newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be luxurious as it is supportive.
To watch how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and ascertain what type of sleeper would benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It also is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you will locate three thin layers of foam. When those segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
The center of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.
The coils also help in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with all the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and supplying a solid foundation for the entire.
After shooting a look at the building of the DreamCloud, let us speak concerning the firmness and texture .
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk to the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nicelift from springs.
At this time I’d like to note that individuals of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise.
Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to give their opinion as well.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it is definitely a solid mattress.
While you will feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Purple Mattress Japan
Instead of simply describing the sense of this DreamCloud for you, I wished to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it.
To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can view the results on the picture under where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: After on my spine, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all .
The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks.
However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a good job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I if mention that I handled to transition across these positions with comparative ease. Purple Mattress Japan
Should you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This next test is meant to demonstrate that the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress into another .
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a little amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops series slightly bigger spikes, I Had still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion , thanks to the individually wrapped coils.
This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
If buying a new mattress, many people want to know whether they will sense as though they are sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how far they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you are likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will allure to a broad range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular. Purple Mattress Japan
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and want to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, along with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
