DreamCloud Mattress Review Purple Mattress Foam
I am super excited about now’s review because I’ll be taking a look at one of this newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be lavish as it is supportive.
To watch how nicely this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and ascertain what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.
Read below for my full review of the DreamCloud mattress. Purple Mattress Foam
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts , which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and a lot of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you may locate three thin layers of foam. While those segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to stress, so that you won’t feel trapped at the mattress.
The middle of those three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these little ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which can be written of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in controlling temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the underside of the mattress, with all the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid base for the whole.
After having a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s talk concerning the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to socialize with the pocketed coils under and experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this point I’d love to note that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise .
As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their view also.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the staying testers that it is definitely a strong bed.
As you’ll feel some small sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Purple Mattress Foam
Instead of simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud into you, I wished to supply a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points contour while lying on it.
To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach .
Back: After on my spine, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking to the mattress at all .
The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and buttocks.
However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this place.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I have to mention that I handled to transition across these places with relative ease. Purple Mattress Foam
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will wish to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night.
This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud indicates a little amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion , as a result of its individually wrapped coils.
This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
When buying a new mattress , many individuals want to know whether they’ll sense like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or putting “on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how far they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you may hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will interest a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Purple Mattress Foam
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and wish to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for one to consider the amount of border support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the border support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
