But how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to find out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it may be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy texture, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, all the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best suits the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six different firmnesses for every mattress, with a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t have the ability to determine how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all of the various ways to orient the latex sections.
Additionally, if you are still not satisfied with the feel, PlushBeds is pleased to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex to get more support.
For the purpose of my review, I’ll be looking at the Botanical Bliss in the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the center and the Firm segment as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.
Cover: Made with organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next three sections are comprised of 100% all-natural Dunlop Latex.
This material is dense and has a quick response to pressure, making a bed that is incredibly bouncy. In comparison to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you are unlikely to feel stuck in the mattress.
Another thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be an excellent option for those who are inclined to sleep hot at night.
So far as the texture in this particular configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage into the bed, which is buffered slightly by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it’s a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials are accredited by the Global Organic Latex Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Plus, the bed can also be GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plushbeds Shop
After having a look at the building of the Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered I was instantly interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in further, I encountered the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and from the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, weights and shapes will feel firmness otherwise, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me determine how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We each took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness score and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always going to be an individual thing, this will hopefully give you a great sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from 1 outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness, it appears as though this bed is really soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for some pretty deep sinkage through the mattress.
Bear in mind that we are only taking a look at the bed in its”Medium” orientation and that shifting around the layers could make it firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using gentle, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These various sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
So if we swapped around the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a medium transition section and a soft foundation, we’d end up with a bed that had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on the best way best to orient the layers in your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important part of texture is pressure, or more especially where pressure points might form while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Rather than merely describing where these tension spots might crop up, I thought I’d give you a visual representation instead. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
You can see the effects on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space in my thoracic region.
Even for this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it easy for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some deep compression through the top layers.
While I didn’t feel as if I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had especially good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers have a tendency to enjoy softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt a lot of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the graphic above, I did not notice any tension at my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze mostly on their sides.
Stomach: And lastly, once I rolled on my stomach, I started to feel a bit of discomfort as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers tend to prefer firm beds since they help keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely in their stomachs might want to decide on a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plushbeds Shop
Plan on sharing your bed with a spouse ? Well then, you’ll want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion move, or the amount of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to another.
Basically, this test will let you know just how bothered you will be by your bed partner’s movements in the night.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize another movement you are likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
For those people who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most frequent complaints associated with the substance and can be viewed in additional all-latex beds, such as the Zenhaven.
If buying a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To exemplify this sinkage, I placed four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 pound steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 pound medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the bounce of the latex certainly helps to combat any type of stuck-in-the-bed feeling, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not exactly the same as contouring, which refers to this kind of cushiony pressure relief you might get at the shoulders and hips from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft feel.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we have taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its biggest pros and cons:
One of my favorite things about this mattress is the way bouncy it’s , which might be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The organic latex is fantastic at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And lastly, a huge selling point is the organic construction. From the natural wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we discussed previously, this mattress didn’t have amazing motion transfer results, which means that you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the evening.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you’re not going to experience a lot of shape here, one of the most frequent complaints about latex that might be a deal breaker for those of you in need of deep pressure relief. Plushbeds Shop
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is hard to look past this 100% latex mattress. An organic cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there is a 1″ layer of 100% Joma wool underneath the cover that does a great job of enhancing breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. Overall, the PlushBeds mattress is a nice latex mattress that provides an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with terrific cooling and a round hug / body contour.
