DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Mattress Encasement For Dust Mites
I’m super excited about today’s review because I’ll be taking a look at a couple of of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be lavish as it’s supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall relaxation and ascertain what sort of sleeper would benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will locate three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to stress, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is particularly significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in controlling temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important function of cradling the pocketed coils and supplying a solid foundation for the entire.
After shooting a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel .
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a pleasantlift from springs.
At this stage I’d like to note that individuals of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise.
Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well.
This provides you a better awareness of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a solid bed.
While you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Mattress Encasement For Dust Mites
Instead of simply describing the sense of this DreamCloud for you, I wished to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do so, I placed a pressure map along with the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the effects on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: After in my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking to the mattress at all.
The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to sense pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks .
However, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this place.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I if mention that I managed to transition across these places with relative ease. Best Mattress Encasement For Dust Mites
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll wish to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This second test is meant to demonstrate that the intensity of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud indicates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress .
While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still look at the mattress to be fairly good at isolating movement , as a result of its individually wrapped coils.
This means that you’re improbable to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking”into” the mattress or putting “on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you are going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will interest a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Best Mattress Encasement For Dust Mites
If you are likely to share your bed with a spouse and want to use the entire surface area of the mattress, and then it is going to be crucial that you think about the amount of border support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which neglect to meet the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center.
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under .
This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
