DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Affordable Gel Memory Foam Mattress
I’m super excited about the current review since I’ll be having check out one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To watch how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall relaxation and ascertain what type of sleeper would benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. When those segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in controlling temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a sound foundation for the entire .
After shooting a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat concerning the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hand sunk to the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this point I’d love to note that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently.
Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to present their view also.
This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a strong bed.
As you’ll feel some little sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Affordable Gel Memory Foam Mattress
Rather than just describing the sense of the DreamCloud for you, I wished to supply a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it.
To do this, I put a pressure map along with the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the effects on the image under where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Once on my spine, my weight was evenly distributed during the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking to the mattress whatsoever.
The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips.
However, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a good job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I must mention that I was able to transition across these places with comparative ease. Best Affordable Gel Memory Foam Mattress
Should you strategy on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will wish to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d nevertheless look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils.
This means that you’re improbable to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.
If buying a new mattress, many people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or putting “on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you are going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will interest a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers especially . Best Affordable Gel Memory Foam Mattress
If you’re likely to share your bed with a spouse and wish to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you think about the amount of border support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I sensed supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center.
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, together with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
