DreamCloud Mattress Review Best 6 Inch Foam Mattress
I’m super excited about the current review since I’ll be taking a look at a few of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it’s supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper could benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It also is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to stress, so that you won’t feel stuck at the mattress.
The center of these three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these miniature ventilations supports even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which can be written of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.
The coils also assist in controlling temperatures as the spaces between them allow for constant air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound base for the entire.
After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat concerning the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to socialize with the pocketed coils under and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this time I’d like to recall that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise.
Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their view as well.
This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it is definitely a solid bed.
As you will feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from that bed and make you feel as if you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Best 6 Inch Foam Mattress
Instead of simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wished to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach .
Back: After in my spine, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking to the mattress whatsoever .
The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and buttocks.
However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a good job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I should mention that I managed to transition across these places with comparative ease. Best 6 Inch Foam Mattress
Should you strategy on sharing your bed with a partner , you will want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around through the night.
This second test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. The DreamCloud indicates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops series slightly larger spikes, I’d nevertheless look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion , thanks to its individually wrapped coils.
This means you’re improbable to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
If buying a new mattress, many people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or placing”on top” of it.
To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers specifically . Best 6 Inch Foam Mattress
If you’re likely to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial that you think about the quantity of edge support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that neglect to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying in my spine, I sensed as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
