DreamCloud Mattress Review Purple Mattress Softness
I am super excited about the current review since I’ll be having a look at a few of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it’s supportive.
To see how nicely this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components , which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and a lot of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It also is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to stress, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress.
The middle of these three layers is particularly significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these miniature ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies in the underside of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid base for the entire.
After taking a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel .
My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nicelift from springs.
At this time I’d like to recall that individuals of distinct body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise .
Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to present their view as well.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress.
While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from that bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Purple Mattress Softness
Instead of simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud into you, I wished to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can view the effects on the image under where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Once in my spine, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking to the mattress at all .
The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips.
However, I still felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease. Purple Mattress Softness
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to learn what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night.
This second test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud indicates a bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the contrary side of the mattress .
While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils.
This usually means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will attention a broad variety of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Purple Mattress Softness
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, and then it is going to be crucial for one to think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to meet the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I sensed as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under .
This system, collectively with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.

Bonus: One free cleaning with purchase.
