DreamCloud Mattress Review Purple Mattress Real Reviews
I’m super excited about the current review because I’ll be having check out one of this newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be lavish as it is supportive.
To determine how nicely this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall relaxation and determine what type of sleeper could benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It also is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you may find three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped at the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the most important function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound base for the entire .
After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel .
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk to the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to socialize with the pocketed coils under and experienced a pleasantlift from the springs.
At this time I’d like to remember that people of distinct body types and shapes will feel firmness differently.
Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view as well.
This gives you a better awareness of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the staying testers that it’s definitely a strong bed.
While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel as if you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Purple Mattress Real Reviews
Rather than just describing the feel of this DreamCloud into you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach .
Back: Once in my spine, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed whatsoever.
The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips.
However, I still felt encouraged and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a good job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I should mention that I handled to transition across these places with relative ease. Purple Mattress Real Reviews
If you strategy on sharing your bed with a partner , you may want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night.
This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress to another .
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d nevertheless consider the mattress to be fairly good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils.
This usually means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new mattress, many individuals wish to know whether they’ll sense like they are sinking”to” the mattress or placing”on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will appeal to a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Purple Mattress Real Reviews
If you’re likely to share your bed with a spouse and wish to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of border support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which neglect to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under.
This system, collectively with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
