DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Bed Mattress Protector
I am super excited about today’s review since I’ll be having a look at one of this latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be luxurious as it is supportive.
To watch how nicely this hybrid lives up to that goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and ascertain what type of sleeper would benefit from it .
Read on below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Best Bed Mattress Protector
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts , which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is written of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It also is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress.
The middle of those three layers is especially significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these little ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.
The coils also help in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for constant air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound base for the entire.
After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture .
My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils under and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this time I’d like to recall that individuals of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise.
Rather than giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion as well.
This provides you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it is definitely a good bed.
While you will feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Bed Mattress Protector
Rather than simply describing the sense of the DreamCloud into you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it.
To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy.
Back: After in my back, my weight was evenly dispersed during the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed whatsoever .
The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and buttocks.
However, I still felt supported and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I must mention that I managed to transition across these places with relative ease. Best Bed Mattress Protector
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night.
This next test is meant to demonstrate that the high level of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. The DreamCloud indicates a bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would nevertheless look at the mattress to be fairly good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils.
This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
If buying a new mattress , most people wish to know whether they will sense like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how far they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will interest a broad variety of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers specifically . Best Bed Mattress Protector
If you are likely to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of border support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying on my spine, I sensed supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
Shipping: Free, comes compressed in a box.
