DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Budget Friendly Mattress 2017
I am super excited about today’s review since I’ll be taking check out one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be lavish as it is supportive.
To watch how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall relaxation and determine what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components , which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll locate three thin layers of foam. While those sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations supports even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.
The coils also help in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the underside of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire.
After with a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let’s speak concerning the firmness and feel .
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to socialize with the pocketed coils experienced a pleasantlift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of distinct body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise .
Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion also.
This will give you a better awareness of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a strong bed.
While you will feel some little sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from that bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Budget Friendly Mattress 2017
Rather than just describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture under where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: After on my spine, my weight was evenly distributed during the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all .
The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to sense pressure forming in my shoulders and buttocks.
However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I have to mention that I handled to transition across these places with comparative ease. Best Budget Friendly Mattress 2017
Should you strategy on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This second test is meant to demonstrate that the intensity of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d nevertheless look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils.
This usually means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your bed spouse’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new mattress, many people want to know whether they will sense as though they are sinking”into ” the mattress or putting “on top” of it.
To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are intended to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you may hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will interest a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers especially . Best Budget Friendly Mattress 2017
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and want to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the border support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I felt supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system below.
This system, along with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.

Bonus: One free cleaning with purchase.
