DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Bed In A Box Firm Mattress
I am super excited about now’s review because I’ll be taking check out one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it’s supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and ascertain what sort of sleeper would benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components , which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: under the cover, you will locate three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also help in controlling temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with all the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid base for the entire.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us speak concerning the firmness and feel .
My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils under and experienced a pleasantlift from springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise .
As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to give their opinion also.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remainder of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress.
While you will feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Bed In A Box Firm Mattress
Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it.
To do this, I placed a pressure map along with the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can view the effects on the picture under where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: After in my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking to the mattress at all.
The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to sense pressure forming in my shoulders and hips.
However, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers.
I should mention that I managed to transition across these places with comparative ease. Best Bed In A Box Firm Mattress
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner , you will wish to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around in night.
This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud indicates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still look at the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils.
This usually means that you’re improbable to be overly disturbed by your mattress spouse’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
If buying a new bed, many people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into ” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are intended to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will appeal to a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Best Bed In A Box Firm Mattress
If you’re likely to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial for one to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which neglect to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying in my spine, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the center.
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under.
This system, along with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
Shipping: Free, comes compressed in a box.
