DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Mattresses 2018
I’m super excited about the current review because I’ll be having a look at one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it’s supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it most.
Read below for my entire review of this DreamCloud mattress. Best Mattresses 2018
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components , which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you may find three thin layers of foam. When those segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these miniature ventilations encourages even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also aid in controlling temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with all the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound base for the entire.
After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s talk concerning the firmness and feel .
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers.
My hands sunk to the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this time I’d love to recall that individuals of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness differently.
As opposed to giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their view as well.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it is definitely a good mattress.
While you will feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Mattresses 2018
Rather than just describing the sense of the DreamCloud into you, I wished to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points contour while lying on it.
To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly dispersed during the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking to the mattress at all .
The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to sense pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks .
However, I still felt supported and the very best foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress , which is key for stomach sleepers.
I should mention that I was able to transition across these places with comparative ease. Best Mattresses 2018
Should you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to learn what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night.
This next test is intended to demonstrate that the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a little amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would nevertheless look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils.
This means you’re improbable to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress , many people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To visualize this sinkage, I placed four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you are likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will allure to a broad assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Best Mattresses 2018
If you’re likely to share your bed with a spouse and want to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for one to consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the border support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying in my back, I felt supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic. Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
Shipping: Free, comes compressed in a box.
Bonus: One free cleaning with purchase.
