DreamCloud Mattress Review Best Cheap King Mattress
I’m super excited about today’s review because I’ll be taking a look at a few of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To see how nicely this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall relaxation and ascertain what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.
Read on below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Best Cheap King Mattress
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components , which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It also is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you may locate three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress.
The middle of these three layers is especially significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these miniature ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which can be composed of a pocketed coil system.
These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction.
The coils also aid in controlling temperature as the spaces between them allow for constant air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with all the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid base for the entire.
After with a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hand sunk to the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to socialize with the pocketed coils experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this stage I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently.
Rather than giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to present their opinion as well.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a strong bed.
As you will feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Best Cheap King Mattress
Rather than just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do so, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
Back: After in my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress whatsoever .
The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to sense pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks .
However, I felt supported and the very best foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress , which is key for stomach sleepers.
I must mention that I managed to transition across these places with relative ease. Best Cheap King Mattress
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to learn what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This next test is meant to demonstrate that the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops series slightly bigger spikes, I would still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils.
This usually means that you’re improbable to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking”into” the mattress or placing”on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you are likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will interest a broad variety of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Best Cheap King Mattress
If you are likely to share your bed with a partner and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, and then it’s likely to be crucial for one to think about the amount of border support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that neglect to live up to the border support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying on my spine, I felt supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under .
This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
