DreamCloud Mattress Review Best King Size Memory Foam Mattress
I’m super excited about now’s review because I’ll be having check out a few of this newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it’s supportive.
To watch how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and ascertain what sort of sleeper would benefit from it most.
Read below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Best King Size Memory Foam Mattress
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It is also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While those segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
The center of the three layers is especially significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these little ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.
The coils also help in controlling temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the most important function of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a sound base for the entire.
After shooting a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat concerning the firmness and feel .
My hand sunk to the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to socialize with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this point I’d like to recall that individuals of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise .
Rather than giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to present their view also.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good bed.
While you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Best King Size Memory Foam Mattress
Instead of just describing the feel of the DreamCloud into you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it.
To do so, I placed a pressure map along with the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach . You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: After in my spine, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all.
The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips.
However, I felt invited and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress , which is key for stomach sleepers.
I must mention that I managed to transition across these places with comparative ease. Best King Size Memory Foam Mattress
Should you strategy on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This second test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another .
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the contrary side of the mattress.
While the 8 and 12 inch drops series slightly bigger spikes, I would nevertheless look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a consequence of the individually wrapped coils.
This means you’re improbable to be overly disturbed by your mattress spouse’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will sense like they’re sinking”into ” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are intended to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you are going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support.
This combo will allure to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Best King Size Memory Foam Mattress
If you are likely to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial that you consider the amount of border support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that neglect to meet the border support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying on my back, I felt supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the middle .
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly spectacular. Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under.
This system, along with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
