Linkie Marais' Sizzling Grilled Fruit Tequila Sunrise

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Orange
  • 1 Grapefruit
  • 1 Lime
  • 5 oz. Tequila Blanco
  • 5 oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 Small Jalapeño
  • 2 Large Basil Leaves

Directions

  1. Preheat grill directly to 450° F.
  2. Slice fruit in half and place face down on the grill for 2-3 minutes or until nice char marks appear.
  3. Remove the fruit from the grill and allow cooling.
  4. Squeeze all of the juice out of the fruit into a pitcher.
  5. Slice the jalapeño into thin slices and add to the fruit juice.
  6. Slice the basil into thin slices (chiffonade) and add to the juice.
  7. Add the tequila and triple sec and stir well.
  8. Pour over ice, and serve with a slice of lime and orange.

*The flavors become more intense if you allow the cocktail to chill overnight.
