01 Sep Grilling Out Before The Gridiron Game
As seen in Deep South Magazine!
Tailgating season is right around the corner, which means it’s time to break out the grill and cheer on your favorite team. Make sure you’re ready for your pre-game celebration with recipes that are sure to be a ‘touchdown’ with fellow fans and guests!
If you want an appetizer with flavor that will hit you like a linebacker, my Spicy Chili Dip is the one for you. It is an easy dish to make ahead of time, and it has a spicy kick. Simply heat it up on the grill when you’re ready to serve it. Tortilla chips pair perfectly with the dip, making it a sharable appetizer.
My favorite dishes for a tailgate are small in size but huge in flavor. Try my bite-sized Beef Sliders with Jalapeño Bacon and Beer Sauce. Want chicken instead? Then add my Beer Marinated Chicken Wings to the lineup. Finger foods are staples at any tailgate, and both dishes are sure to add some spice to your pre-game shindig. For the Beef Sliders, put wax paper between the patties for travel, then throw them on the grill when you’re ready to eat. When transporting the uncooked wings, make sure you double-bag them to avoid a penalty for ‘excess spillage.’
Don’t settle for boring beer this fall! Try my Sizzling Grilled Tequila Sunrise or my Spiked Spiced Apple Cider. The Sizzling Grilled Tequila Sunrise is perfect on a hot afternoon, and with its refreshing flavors, you’ll be refreshed in no time. The Spiked Spiced Apple Cider is a must-have for those night games or brisk fall afternoons. Use a pot on the grill to reheat the drink when you’re ready to serve it.
So you can enjoy your tailgate, choose dishes that can be made ahead of time, like my Mississippi Mud Cake. With only a few more minutes left until the game, his delectable dessert is sure to be the perfect ending to your tailgate.
By whipping up some of my favorite tailgating treasures, your pre-game celebration will be the talk of the town! What foods will you feature at your tailgate?
